There is perhaps nothing more American than gluttonous fast food.

In honor of the 240th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, Carl’s Jr. decided to mix the American tradition of guzzling down beer with the American tradition of guzzling down incredibly-fattening fast food with the Budweiser Burger, which is not made up and is entirely real, in case you were wondering.

Before we continue, remember that Budweiser is renaming their beer “America” for a short time this summer, so this burger is actually the America Burger, which is probably the most apt description of a burger sold at a fast food chain that has Budweiser/America beer cheese, applewood-smoked bacon strips and caramelized onions on it.

In the above review of the burger from the fine folks at WrecklessEating, they said the burger had, “an over-abundance of cheese,” which is too perfect. There’s also no beer taste in the cheese, for what it’s worth, so your 10-year-old who is way too excited about eating this won’t get drunk off of it.

So it looks like this burger is just like most Carl’s Jr. gimmick burgers, which is to say all flash and no substance. As of this writing, you can only get the Budweiser Burger in select Southern California Carl’s Jr. locations, which means you should probably just go to In-N-Out and get a better burger anyway.
