five guys burger thief

The Washington DC Metropolitan Police Department are looking for a man that broke into into a DC area Five Guys restaurant on March 18, and stole money made himself two cheeseburgers.

Here’s surveillance video of the incident:

The suspect followed a delivery man into the Five Guys on 1400 Irving Street NW on March 18 between 3 and 5 a.m., D.C. Metropolitan Police Department said. He waited for the delivery man to leave the restaurant, then rummaged around.

He looked through the kitchen and back cabinet before he decided he was craving some food. The man turned on the countertop griddle and made two cheeseburgers while he chatted on the phone and sipped on his fountain drink.

The burglar stole a bottle of water before leaving with his food, police said.

Usually I’m not going to side with a “suspect”, but I’ve had Five Guys burgers several times, so I totally understand where this guy is coming from.  You’ll be willing to push the limits of the law to acquire a delicious Five Guys burger (especially their bacon cheeseburger, imo) when the craving strikes.

And we should be applauding him for not stealing money! Sure, charge him for the burgers, drinks, etc. Hell, make him pay Five Guys $50 for the $11 worth of items he enjoyed, if you must. But seeking an arrest seems overboard.
