Whoever runs the Wendy’s Twitter account deserves a raise.

We recently shared the story of Wendy’s telling a guy on Twitter that if he got 18 million retweets, he’d get free chicken nuggets for a year. They continued to have fun with the subject, which became a national story. Some simple interaction got Wendy’s tons of publicity, which is certainly far, far more valuable than a year’s worth of chicken nuggets would be.

But an interaction earlier this week with another fast-food chain was particularly fantastic.

Wendy’s has had a 4-for-4 deal (4 items for $4) for a while, and Hardee’s recently added such a deal to their menu. That led to a conversation on Twitter, which both Wendy’s and Hardee’s jumped in on.

And Wendy’s was the clear winner:

That’s how it’s done.
