Here is a list of some great NFL cold takes tweeted during the middle of games throughout the 2016 season…

  • With the Colts down 34-28 in its Week 1 game against the Lions, Andrew Luck threw a 6 yard TD pass to TE Jack Doyle with 37 seconds left. When Adam Vinatieri made the extra point to give Indy a 35-34 lead, retired Colts legend Reggie Wayne was excited…

The celebration turned out to be a short one as the Lions went 50 yards in 25 seconds to set up a 43-yard game winning field goal to win 37-34.  As for Reggie…

  • When the Dolphins scored a TD with four minutes left in their week 1 game in Seattle to take a 12-10 lead over the Seahawks, sports and entertainment lawyer and Dolphins fan Darren Heitner thought it was a good idea to poke fun of everyone who picked the Seahawks in their suicide pools..

For some reason, he forgot that this was the Dolphins, and that the Dolphins were playing the Seahawks, and that Russell Wilson is the Seahawks QB, and so on and so forth.  The Seahawks took the ensuing kickoff and methodically drove 75 yards in 14 plays for a touchdown and a 17-12 victory. Sorry, not sorry Darren.

  • Long before the Browns picked up their first win, they almost won a game in Miami against the Dolphins.  The week 3 contest was tied 24-24 with Cleveland’s kicker Cody Parkey lining up for a 46-yard field goal with four seconds left. Despite the fact that Parkey had missed on 42 and 41 yard attempts earlier in the game, Cleveland radio personality Dustin Fox was confident…

Parkey missed the kick wide left…

Fox was correct here.  The Browns lost in OT 30-24.

  • In week 4, Oakland blew a nine point 4th quarter lead in Baltimore, giving up 14 points in three minutes to the Ravens to go down 27-21 with 3:30 left. ESPN’s Bomani Jones couldn’t help but clown the poor Raiders…

But these Raiders aren’t the same old Raiders. They drove right down the field in 1:29 for the TD and a 28-27 victory.

  • Here’s Rich Eisen with an all-time jinx during the 2nd Quarter of the Cowboys week 6 win in Green Bay…

annnd one minute later…

  • The Buffalo News scribes Vic Carucci and Jerry Sullivan thought the fat lady had sung after the Bills took a 17-6 lead over the Dolphins with 6 minutes left in the 3rd Quarter of Buffalo’s Week 7 game in Miami…

But they play the entire game for a reason folks.  The lights stayed on and the Bills stopped themselves from playing any defense as the Dolphins scored 22 unanswered points en route to a 28-25 comeback win.

  • Unlike their wrong predictions (which we so kindly point out), people love to brag about their predictions that turn out to be right.  Sometimes people are so anxious to display their intelligence that they tweet too soon.  Here, during the week 8 early games, Geoff Schwartz was keen to point out the score of the Cleveland/Jets game, given his  pregame prediction that the “Browns [will] beat the Jets.

The Browns did not end up beating the Jets.  They lost 31-28.

  • In week 10, the Saints were down 23-17 to the Broncos 1:28 left in the 4th quarter when this happened…

A great description by FS1’s Jason Mcintyre, except for one thing:  the touchdown only tied the game at 23.  It did not give the Saints the lead.  Lets let J-Mac describe what happened next…

They did score. It counted for 2 points and gave the Broncos a 25-23 lead and eventually the win.

  • In week 10, when the Dolphins kicked a game tying field goal in San Diego with 1:07 left in the 4th quarter, The Crossover writer Rohan Nadkarni thought they left way too much time on the clock for Phillip Rivers…

Leaving it in Rivers hands actually turned out to be the smartest play. A few minutes later, Dolphins LB Kiko Alonso intercepted Rivers and took it 60 yards for the go ahead touchdown. The Dolphins then intercepted another Rivers pass to seal the win.

  • After Trevor Sieman threw a 76 yard TD pass to Bennie Fowler to give the Broncos 24-16 lead over the Chiefs with 3 minutes left in their week 12 contest, the Broncos’ twitter feed was a smidge overanxious…

The tweet was deleted after the Chiefs scored a TD and completed the 2 point conversion to tie the game with 12 seconds left. The Chiefs won 27-24 in OT.

  • Here is The Buffalo News’ Jerry Sullivan again. This time it was during week 13 when the Bills were up 24-9 over the Raiders during the 3rd quarter. Sullivan gave his colleague Vic Carucci a pat on the back for having enough foresight earlier in the week to predict that the Bills would win…

A person’s first instinct is usually his or her best, Jerry.  The Bills gave up 29 unanswered Raider points and lost 38-24.

  • The Steelers’ Antonio Brown had only 1 catch for 7 yards in the first half of the Steelers’ game against the Ravens on Sunday. This prompted Pittsburgh sports radio personality Andre Filliponi to tweet this…

Brown ended the game with 10 catches for 96 yards, including the game winning touchdown. The Steelers won 31-27 and clinched the AFC North Division crown.
