There’s always a catch when someone says “Free beer!”

Over the last couple months, Chipotle is trying to work its way back from the recent E. coli outbreak that affected customers in 14 different states. Overall, business is down about 20% in the wake of that health scare.

To combat the loss in business, Chipotle has tried many different strategies to bring people back. They’ve ranged from free burritos to rewards programs, but none have worked as much as the fast food chain would have hoped.

As a result, Chipotle is now trying a new promotion: FREE BEER!

But once again, there’s always a catch.

According to Business Insider, Chipotle will be trying out their free beer promotion as a part of a happy hour special on alcoholic drinks. Right now, the chain is offering half-price and two-for-one drink specials in eight states: Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, and Wisconsin.

That’s where the catch lies: half-price or two-for-one. For example in Iowa, between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., customers can buy two beers or margaritas for the price of one, thus resulting in one of the drinks technically being “free.”

Business Insider listed the details on the drink promotions at Chipotle locations in the eight different areas, and while your local Chipotle won’t simply be handing out free beers, two beers or margaritas for the price of one is always better than no beers or margaritas. Plus, with the E. coli outbreak over, now you can comfortably enjoy Chipotle too!

Just make sure you remember that guacamole IS extra.
