If you’re anything like me, you appreciate a legitimately positive news story. Especially right now, when so much of the news is generally horrifying.

Fortunately for you, you’ve clicked on one of the good ones! Meet Tommy Morissey, a five-year-old golfer born with only his left arm. This past Thursday he hit the opening shot at the Shriners Hospital for Children Open, and his swing is fantastic:

That’s a more controlled tempo and swing plane than I accomplish, at my age, with both arms and years of practice. But this actually gets better, because Tommy also got to meet PGA Tour pros Graeme McDowell, Billy Horschel, and James Hahn. And not only did he meet them, he challenged them each to a one-hole golf match.

That might sound like an unfair fight, on multiple levels, until you see how it played out:

Reduced to the same limitations, the pros didn’t stand a chance from just 100 yards. And even with two arms it’s tough to beat the two birdies and a par Tommy carded.

Watching the pros struggle to make anything close to solid contact is a testament to just how impressive Tommy’s game is. Not that he needed it, of course.

On the other hand, I very much needed this video and this story, so thank you, Tommy, Graeme, Billy, and James. Much appreciated.
