In a story that’s sure to warm your heart, two high school football teams from Alabama made sure to give a high school senior with Down Syndrome a moment he’ll never forget.
In this play, 18-year-old Jake was the running back in an I-formation. After a handoff from the quarterback, Jake went to his outside and was no match for anyone else on the field as he went 35 yards for the touchdown. His sister Amy got footage of the play.
My brother, Jake, is 18 & a senior at Vestavia. He also happens to have Down Syndrome. Tonight 2 teams helped to make his dream come true! pic.twitter.com/uLoP3KH8KR

There’s some good blocking and that no doubt helped but it was Jake’s moves and his speed down the sideline that made the difference. Jake even caught the eye of Super Bowl winning coach Brian Billick.
Jake displays great vision & sets up blocks perfectly. Hits the outside with elite burst & acceleration down the sideline. Great player! https://t.co/NVQXyKGr7e

All in all, it was pretty sweet for two teams to come together and do something for someone so he can have an absolutely memorable night. And shows once again that just because you have a disability, that doesn’t mean you can’t live your life to the fullest like Jake does.
