Alex Rodriguez has always needed a little extra help to improve his game, and his social media presence is no different.

In an interview with ESPN Baseball Tonight, the New York Yankees slugger admitted he’s not very good with social media, and that his 11-year-old daughter was tutoring him in Twitter and Instagram.

“Yea, I’m a novice at it, Rodriguez told Ravech while playing catch in an ESPN segment. “But my tutor and teacher is Natasha, my 11-year-old daughter. She’s a tough critic. She really gets upset when I post something three hours after I did it, so she’s teaching me all the etiquette in social media. She tells me all the time ‘Daddy, don’t post that! You’re so corny!’, so sometimes she’ll post it for me.”

Rodriguez currently has 290,000 followers on Instagram and 174,000 followers on Twitter. I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest Rodriguez’s daughter told him to use lots of hashtags, as his Twitter account is full of them.

His hashtag use is identical on Instagram, but it’s less egregious considering there’s a much bigger character limit.

Still, it’s impressive that his daughter, who’s barely hit double digits in age, is social media savvy. Is it the smartest strategy for A-Rod to hand over the huge responsibility for his public image to a pre-teen? Probably not, but he’s made much worse decisions in the past, and she seems to be doing a good job, so we’ll cut him some slack.
