Fair or not, professional athletes endure a lot of criticism on Twitter. Most of them just ignore their critics, since a lot of the criticism is petty.

However, Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman doesn’t let criticism go. According to an Astros fan on Twitter, Bregman DM’d him after he posted that Bregman should be traded for Chris Sale.

According to CBS Houston, this seems to be the tweet that got Bregman upset:

There are a couple good lessons here:

  1. Don’t search your name on Twitter. It will just make you sad, and nothing good comes from it.
  2. If you’re a professional athlete arguing with a fan about your baseball abilities, you’re going to look petty, no matter how wrong you think the fan is.

From now on, Bregman should probably just turn off his mentions.
