Another day, another wacky baseball injury.

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Josh Reddick was scratched from the lineup before Monday’s game against the Cincinnati Reds, after feeling uncomfortable throwing the baseball. Why was he feeling uncomfortable throwing the baseball? He injured his finger when he got his hand stuck in a hotel room door… while trying to hold the door open for a room-service cart. For real:

Josh Reddick’s difficult early tenure as a Dodger took a comical but painful turn on Sunday evening, when he injured his finger when his hand got caught in a hotel door. Reddick was trying to hold the door open for a room-service cart.

“I’m at rock bottom right now,” Reddick said. “But I will climb out.”

The Dodgers scratched him from the lineup on Monday morning when he felt uncomfortable throwing the baseball.

As the excerpt from Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times alludes to, Reddick has been off to a rough start — a .152/.211/.167 slash line — for the Dodgers after being acquired at the trade deadline from the Oakland Athletics. Hopefully the veteran outfielder can get a laugh out of this, relax a bit, and return to the rock-solid hitter — a .296/.368/.449 slash line — he was with Oakland earlier in the year.
