Animals being named after favorite athletes aren’t uncommon, but said animals winning championships before those athletes — that’s a different story.

Manny Machado, a 4-year veteran of the Baltimore Orioles apparently has an admirer with a huge show dog career as well. That’s because the third baseman’s namesake took home Best of Breed at the 2016 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.

Xoloitzcuintli is the oldest known breed of dog in the America’s and is more-commonly referred to as a Mexican Hairless Dog. Impressive stuff indeed.

Now the biggest question? When are the two Manny’s going to get a photo-op together.

After all, perhaps the third baseman could use some of that championship inspiration in the rough and tumble American League East division?

With Spring Training just one day away, chances of that happening anytime soon seem slim at this point. However, when the dog days of summer come rolling along, it seems like a perfect time to make that meeting happen.
