The Miami Marlins have no problem with the famous Marlins Man bringing friends with him to sit behind home plate at their ballpark, but they want the world-traveling Marlins fan to make sure his friends are behaving themselves. After a woman was squeezing and showing off her cleavage to opposing pitchers during a game earlier this week, the Marlins reached out to the man known simply as Marlins Man and asked him keep things under control moving forward.

The incident which raised the eyebrows of Marlins representatives occurred Wednesday night in a game against the St. Louis Cardinals. One of the women sitting with Marlins Man behind home plate pulled her shirt down to expose her chest without going with a full flash in an attempt to distract the opposing pitcher.

In a phone interview with the New York Post, Laurence Levy (the real name for Marlins Man) said he had no clue what had happened as he was taking photos with other fans. He was made aware of the situation when the Marlins contacted him about it.

“I didn’t know what happened,” Levy claimed. “When I came back, people were like, ‘Did you hear what happened?’ Then the Marlins sent me a text message, ‘You need to keep you girls under control, they cannot be flashing on TV it’s not appropriate. Bringing them is one thing to have fun, but the actions aren’t good for the image and we can’t condone it.’”

The woman who did the flashing, Korinna, also got a chance to tell her side of the story. She said she had no idea she was being shown on TV.

“To be honest, I was caught off guard,” Korinna told the New York Post. “I was sitting and watching the game and we had a couple guys on base and we were just kind of talking and laughing and we thought it’d be kind of a funny distraction to get the pitcher’s attention and see if it would help, so that’s kind of what we did. But we didn’t think we were on camera.”

This is not the first time the women now known as Marlins Man’s Mermaids have shown up to watch some baseball, and it likely will not be the last. Marlins Man even told the New York Post his mission is to bring sexy back to Major League Baseball, whatever that is supposed to mean. In fact, as Marlins Man claims, he has been encouraged to bring the women back to future games and do whatever it takes to gain a home field advantage by some of the players on the Marlins roster.

“Two Marlins players wrote me and said, ‘Hey, tell your girls to stop jumping up and down when we’re in the field, it’s distracting to us. But it’s OK if we’re batting to distract the other pitcher,’” Marlins Man said.

Those players obviously have not had a discussion with the front office about this.
