Rinku Singh

Do you remember Rinku Singh? Of course you don’t. Singh was a 28-year old who grew up in India and was one of two winners of a reality show called The Million Dollar Arm, which is the show that the Jon Hamm movie Million Dollar Arm was based on. The goal of the show was to find the person in India who could throw a baseball the fastest, and the most accurate.

Singh and runner-up Dinesh Patel eventually signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates after a tryout. Patel flamed out pretty quickly, lasting just two seasons and 13 2/3 innings in the Gulf Coast League. Singh stuck around for awhile, eventually reaching A-ball with the West Virginia Power before arm injuries, including Tommy John surgery and a broken elbow, brought an end to his baseball career.

What’s next for Singh? Apparently, it’s pro wrestling – he was at a WWE tryout camp in Dubai recently.

This is wild to me – going from a reality show in India to Minor League Baseball to, potentially, WWE. What a world we live in. There’s no word yet on whether or not Singh actually got past the first stage of his tryout, but I’m sure WWE will update us if so.

On an unrelated note, Singh definitely looks bigger than the 190 pounds he was billed at during his baseball career. That can only help in the world of pro wrestling.
