Odds are if you have ever been shown on the big screen at a baseball game, you probably wished you could share the thrill of seeing yourself with all of your friends and family. If that describes you, then you are in luck in 2017. Major League Baseball is going to make it possible to capture those scoreboard moments and share them with your social media followers.

15 Seconds of Fame, a digital tech company, has worked out a deal with MLB to make it possible to splice out those moments captured on video shareable with fans. To do that, it will utilize face-recognition technology. Fans must download an app and take a picture of their face. The app will then send you any video footage captured on the jumbotron or captured on TV if it finds a match to your face, and MLB will be gracious enough to allow you to share the video clips any way you desire without threatening to sue you for rebroadcasting MLB content without the expressed written consent of Major League Baseball.

“We think going to a baseball game is one of the best experiences fans can have,” said Kenny Gersh, executive vice president of business for Major League Baseball Advanced Media. “So sharing a memorable and enjoyable experience is very important to us.”

Personally, I think this sounds dumb, but people love sharing images of themselves, so it’s just stupid enough to work out for MLB. Immediately, this solves one major problem I have seen at baseball games – the people who try to snap a photo of the big board on their phone or camera when they or someone they know is being shown on the screen, only to miss out on a photo that may have come out poorly anyway because they took too long to snap the pic. Now, all they have to do is download the app, take a selfie, and wait for the video footage to come to them.

So forget about the stress of missing your child being shown on the jumbotron, and enjoy the moment. Let 15 Seconds of Fame take care of capturing the moment for you instead.
