Washington Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth has had a decent 2016 season, with a .248/.320/.439 slash line and 0.7 WAR according to FanGraphs.

But, the 37-year-old outfielder is coming off a bad 2015 season, and he’s making $21 million annually through 2017, a contract that calls for more than “decent” production.

Now, Werth didn’t give himself that contract, and a baseball player’s production declining as he gets into his late 30s is certainly something that everyone should expect (especially the front office that chose to give him that contract). But not too many fans and media members look it that way, of course.

Well, on Wednesday evening, Werth crushed an Adam Warren offering off the right-center field wall, to give the Nats a wild 5-4 walkoff-victory over the Chicago Cubs in extra innings:

Werth then went to do a postgame interview with MASN’s Dan Kolko, and said the critics can “Kiss my ass!”

He also said, “Holy shit! Hey Kolko, we should do this more often!”

Werth would make for a pretty fun TV analyst when his playing days are over, although his vocabulary may only allow that to be on HBO or Showtime.
