*Audible sigh*

Tim Tebow’s baseball career is off to a blistering start. Well, as blistering as one can be for a 29-year-old playing Instructional League baseball against mostly teenagers.

Tebow, aka The Big Tebowski, aka the former quarterback with the most media headlines per NFL starts, was batting in a Mets instructional league game, and he hit an opposite field home run on the first professional pitch he faced.

And from another angle…

God must have been watching, because Tebow rounded the basis like a natural. Well, a natural who’s facing opponents that are up to a decade younger than he is. Seriously, look at the Mets instructional league roster – every player except Tebow was born 1991 or later.

I’m not trying to belittle Tebow’s achievements, as I’m sure many Hall of Famers have gone deep during their first at-bat in their Instructional League debut. But Tebow’s got to be the first 29-year-old to accomplish the feat, right?

The Mets might have a real prospect in Tebow. If Tebow’s hitting dingers against people much, much younger than him, imagine how he’ll fair against people his own age? Probably, horribly. But at least Tebow will surely continue his hot stre….

*record scratch*

I’m stunned.

The media circus surrounding the failed NFL quarterback will continue to be noisy, even more so following this unlikely home run. Credit to Tebow for going deep. That’s a feat on its own. But the long-bomb adds little credence to Tebow’s professional aspirations. There’s no chance in hell (sorry) he’d do this against non-teenagers and young adults.
