tebow

The long-rumored switch to baseball for Tim Tebow is closer to becoming a reality, and the next step is to actually work out for Major League Baseball scouts.

It appears that workout has been scheduled, and we’re just one week away per multiple reports.

With the date drawing near, the bigger question is just who would actually be interested in a washed up football player who hasn’t played a competitive game of baseball since he was in high school?

Tebow was a very solid baseball player back in his high school days, but that was more than a decade ago and at 29 years old it is a severely uphill battle to make it to the MLB level in time before his age catches up with him. As Orioles manager and former minor-league washout Buck Showalter said, “I bet he was a good player in high school. I was, too.”

There’s no word on just how many teams are expected to show up for the private workout, but we’re guessing that at least a handful of teams will send Los Angeles-based scouts to watch.

After all, turning over every stone to get a potential MLB player is what scouting is all about.

For his part, Tebow is taking this transition very seriously and has been working out with the likes of former MLBers Chad Moeller and Gary Sheffield. Both report that he has a real shot at becoming a MLB player.

We’re just one week away from finding out who exactly is right, the doubtful public or those former MLB players whom have been working out with Tebow as of late.
