Vin Scully made it very clear that Sunday’s game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Colorado Rockies would be Scully’s last at Dodger Stadium.

It couldn’t have ended more perfectly.

Charlie Culberson ended the game between the Dodgers and Rockies with a home run in the bottom of the 10th inning that not only gave Los Angeles the win, it gave the Dodgers the National League West championship and ended Scully’s storied career at Dodger Stadium. Scully will broadcast Dodger games until the end of the MLB regular season, culminating in San Francisco.

This home run leaves us with so much to unpack. Let’s start with the on-the-field part. This home run was significant in the fact that Los Angeles now has the NL West title in its back pocket and can focus on playoff positioning.

As for Scully, this home run is nothing but bittersweet. We won’t get to hear Scully again from the Dodger Stadium press box. Sunday’s game was a big one, and fans let Scully live it up following the win.

No, YOU’RE CRYING. What an event. Scully is a once-in-a-lifetime announcer. Hopefully the fans in Los Angeles were able to understand that.
