The Cleveland Indians beating the Boston Red Sox in the ALDS wasn’t expected to happen, but certainly wouldn’t have been surprising as the Indians are a pretty damn good team themselves. But sweeping the AL favorites? No one saw that coming, and the Indians pulled off the feat on Monday night at Fenway Park with a 4-3 victory.

The Red Sox got one run in the eighth to make it a one-run game, and then began to rally with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. Facing the game’s final strike, Jackie Bradley smoked a single into right. Facing the game’s final strike, Dustin Pedroia worked a walk. And finally, Indians closer Cody Allen finished off a batter with two strikes, as Boston’s Travis Shaw flew out to right field to put the Indians in the ALDS.

So, the ALCS is set: Indians-Blue Jays. Two sweeps, by two teams that were the lower seed entering the postseason. Because, of course, #baseball.
