A New Jersey woman is crying foul in a new lawsuit filed against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Dana Morelli is suing the Brewers organization after getting hit by a foul ball under her eye in 2014. Morelli told CBS58 that Milwaukee didn’t do enough to protect her from the injury, which caused her to unable to work full time until mid-2015.

The Brewers declined to comment on the case.

Foul balls hitting fans isn’t new, but the rate has seemingly escalated over recent seasons. In 2016 alone, multiple injuries have been caused by errant foul balls. Last week in Philadelphia, a girl was injured by a foul ball causing infielder Freddy Galvis to call for increased fan netting. The next day, a mother at a Phillies game was injured after being struck by a foul ball. The day after that, a Brewers fan was hospitalized after being hit. Foul balls can be extremely dangerous.

Morelli claiming the Brewers didn’t do enough to prevent her isn’t a bad claim. Major league stadiums are ill-equipped to deal with foul ball injuries and enough preventative netting isn’t widely set up across ballparks. Setting up nets might obstruct sightlines of fans, but isn’t that worth the cost of not suffering a potential injury?

There’s a foul ball epidemic in baseball. Injuries have been so rampant, something has to change. Perhaps, Morelli’s lawsuit will establish a new precedent towards making MLB stadiums safer for fans.
