United Airlines MMA Memes

The United Airlines fiasco brought out the best of the internet and there was no shortage of clever memes. That includes the MMA community, which really brought the heat since there is affinity between an old man being beaten on a plane and the fight game. Props to MMA Digest for this spectacular compilation video.

Gracies Show How to Defend Against United Airlines

We don’t show you a lot of techniques here at the MMA Ten, but occasionally we do it as a public service. We showed you how to defend against the Trump handshake, and today we have a video from the Gracies on how to defend against the United Airlines Drag.

Jimi Manuwa Vows to Break Cormier’s Face

Daniel Cormier had an easy time defending his UFC light heavyweight title against Anthony Johnson after “Rumble” enacted a game plan that can only be described as insane. DC was feeling it after the fight and let Jimi “Poster Boy” Manuwa know in no uncertain terms that he shouldn’t want any of what he just saw sitting cageside at UFC 210.

Cormier suffered a broken nose in the fight and Manuwa vowed to finish it off, telling MMA Junkie, “He knows I’ll break the rest of his face.”

Manuwa also said Cormier is a boring fighter and unpopular with fans. Cormier isn’t a stiking prodigy like Manuwa, but to say he’s boring is fairly ridiculous. Manuwa has had chances at fighting contenders at the top of the division and lost on both occasions. He was knocked out by Alexander Gustafsson and Anthony Johnson, so Cormier can be forgiven for not thinking much of the British fighter.

The Twitter Feud Has Begun

Cormier and Manuwa are already sparring on Twitter, and Cormier is even going after Manuwa for his fashion. It’s doubtful the Brits adhere to the unwritten rule of not wearing white before Memorial Day since it’s not their holiday, but that didn’t stop Cormier from ripping Manuwa’s attire.

Jon Jones No Longer Main Event-Worthy

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones will be eligible to compete in the UFC again come July, but Dana White says he is no longer under consideration for main event status.

“I’d put just about everybody ahead [of Jones] and make them the main event. I just don’t have the faith right now that the fight’s going to happen. I don’t want to spend millions and millions of dollars again promoting a fight that doesn’t happen.”

Cormier understands the thought process, but says there is only one fighter that could possibly compete in a main event over a Jones/DC title fight.

“It has to be to McGregor or somebody like that because otherwise, who else would be in a main event above me and Jon Jones? We’re not going to co-main event to just anyone. It has to be the biggest star in the sport and that’s Conor McGregor.”

McGregor is a bit busy spending cash and talking about Floyd Mayweather, so that’s an unlikely option at this point. A realistic option is for Jones to take a non-title bout before jumping right in against Cormier, and putting him in a co-main event works in that regard.

Snoop Dogg Has Jon Jones’ Back

This was an easy one. UFC Fight Night goes down in Kansas City on Saturday night and the co-main event features Rose “Thug” Namajunas and Michelle “The Karate Hottie” Waterson. This is not only a matchup of fantastic nicknames, but both of these women are serious contenders in the UFC strawweight division.

Namajunas won three straight over tough opponents before dropping a narrow split decision to Karolina Kowalkiewicz. Waterson literally put Paige VanZant to sleep in her last fight and choked out Angela Magana in her UFC debut. This has Fight of the Night written all over it. You can check it out live on Fox beginning at 8 p.m. ET.

Bring Your Daughter to Work Day, UFC Style

Waterson brought her daughter to the open workouts and it was a cute overload.

Namajunas does not have children, but she did work on some grappling with her dog.

Bisping Shreds Yoel Romero

Michael Bisping is the UFC middleweight champion and the king of all trash talk. His next title defense is reportedly going to come against former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre, but Bisping threw some shade at contender Yoel Romero this week in his blog for Champions.co.

“We already know Yoel is the biggest cheating scumbag in all the sport. He’ll do whatever he can; grab a fence, he’ll sit on the bench for way too long, he’ll cover himself in water to get a few more seconds of rest between rounds, and of course, he’ll take steroids till the damned cows come home.

“He got lucky because he had a very good legal team around him that helped him with this cooked up story of his. Somehow, they f***ing convinced #USADA it was a tainted supplement, otherwise known as the oldest trick in the book. Everybody has been going to that well, but one day, it’s going to run dry, and it will be interesting to see what the cheaters come up with next.”

Bisping had some left in the gas tank for GSP.

Bisping: GSP Waiting for His Balls to Grow

Bisping was asked by TMZ if the title fight with GSP is ever going to happen, and he replied with his usual candor.

GSP isn’t much for trash talk, but if Bisping’s barbs get this fight to happen sooner than later I hope he keeps ripping him.
