Joel Embiid’s NBA career has been derailed by injuries.

That’s been disappointing to a lot of people, but he’s reportedly healthy, and he’s still just 22, so there’s time for him to reclaim his status as an exciting prospect.

This, though, is not a story about that. This is a story of the 76ers hosting a beach party. Fun, smiles, fan interaction, etc. Here’s a few choice shots, so you can get a feel for the vibe:

Everyone’s smiling! Kids having a good time! All well and good. And then a few kids got to challenge players on the court. Including one youngster who thought a simple crossover and step-back was going to get the job done against Joel Embiid.

Here’s how it turned out for him:

Don’t bring that in there, kid. Have to at least drop a pump fake, try an up-and-under, something. Maybe add a floater to the arsenal if you want to play amongst the trees. With highlights like these, maybe this will finally be the year for the Sixers!

Since Joel Embiid was drafted third overall in 2014, Embiid and that tiny child have played the same number of NBA minutes.
