With the New York Knicks hitting the skids once again, the inevitable is coming: Carmelo Anthony trade talks.

And they’ve already come. FanRag Sports’ Charlie Rosen is reporting on possible destinations for Anthony if the Knicks decide to pull the trigger. With Melo’s no-trade clause, he has quite a bit of leverage. This means he wants to be sent to a contender.

In this case, that means the 32-year-old would only accept a trade to the Cleveland Cavaliers or Los Angeles Clippers. Yeah, good luck with that.

At 32 years old, Anthony has some value, but there is definitely some baggage there. His contract goes until the end of next season, and at this point, he’s 20th in the league in points per game (22.1).

It’s hard to imagine either of those teams bringing in Anthony. Both teams already have plenty of weapons, and adding Anthony to that mix may just throw things off. If Anthony is insistent on leaving New York, he might want to look at a team with a little lower aspirations. It’s hard to blame Anthony, however, for wanting to win a championship. At his age, it has to feel like he’s just wasting away in New York.

UPDATE- Welp:

And in that case, he may really want to expand the list of teams he would approve a trade to.
