Monday night was a special night for Dirk Nowitzki. During the Mavericks’ game against the Clippers, the future Hall of Famer became just the sixth player in NBA to play 50,000 career minutes.

And the Mavericks celebrated the incredible achievement from the top player in their franchise’s history by spelling his name incorrectly on his game jersey.

Oof. That’s poor timing.

But, it does summarize how things are going for the Mavericks this season. Dallas had a 101-91 lead over the Clippers with under five minutes to go… and lost 104-101. The loss brings their record to 17-37, just one half game back of the Hawks for the NBA’s worst record.

UPDATE: Dirk agrees that the jersey mishap sums up the Mavericks’ season.
