It seems everyone is getting a chance to sound off on the off-court war of words between LeBron James and Charles Barkley. If the line in the sand has been drawn, then throw Dwyane Wade on LeBron’s side of the battle line.
James, fresh off an NBA Championship in Cleveland, has sounded off about his desire to have the team spend more money to build the absolute best roster possible, and his critics have come after him as a result. Among those criticizing LeBron was Charles Barkley, the Basketball Hall of Famer and TNT studio analyst. Barkley called LeBron “whiny,” which led to LeBron firing back at Sir Charles.
“Thank God he finally said something,” Wade said in response to LeBron cracking back at Barkley. “A lot of guys take shots at him for whatever reason. He just has kept his mouth closed and continued to focus on what he needs to. But it’s about time he said something.”
Wade even took a few shots at Barkley as well, adding a little more venom to the brewing NBA superstar civil war of sorts.
“Sometimes, when guys get a microphone in front of their face, they just talk and talk and talk and forget about their history,” Wade said of Barkley. “We all make that mistake, but especially that guy on TV.”
Barkley was never one to hold back his opinions and for years voiced his displeasure about not having a good enough supporting cast around him in Philadelphia, which led to him being moved to Phoenix. Of course, the Sixers weren’t coming off an NBA Championship run and were stuck in the East at a time the Detroit Pistons were roughing up the competition, Patrick Ewing was a force in New York and a guy named Michael Jordan was leading the Bulls on a path to a dynasty. All Charles wanted was a little more help in Philly.

There may be a jealousy factor at play here for Barkley, who never won an NBA championship during his otherwise brilliant career. Whatever the case, you know Barkley is not going to back down sharing his thoughts on this situation or any other, and that’s the way we’d prefer it to be.
