New York Knicks backup center Kyle O’Quinn has developed into a reliable role player off the bench this season, but he seems to have embraced another role off the court. O’Quinn has become a popular attraction at bar mitzvahs and bat mitzvahs. At 6-foot-10, O’Quinn is certainly hard to miss at the events he attends, and he has admitted to enjoying them.

“A lot of times, I go and I stay longer than I’m supposed to because it’s so much fun,” O’Quinn said in a story published by ESPN. “The food’s always good. The only thing that gets a little overwhelming is the kids; sometimes they don’t listen to the structure of the party and it just gets loose.”

Of course. Why would kids listen to instructions when there is a giant in the room? But O’Quinn seems to take it in stride, because he knows he is making some memories that will be cherished for years to come just by showing up.

“And the [parents] kind of leave it like, ‘Kyle, you deal with it.’ And it’s kids saying, ‘Selfie, selfie, selfie, snapchat, what’s your snapchat?’ But once you get that out of the way, it’s fun.”

O’Quinn has been attending these events over the past few years since coming to the Knicks, and he has come to have a great appreciation for the Jewish culture that he was never exposed to growing up.

“One thing I can say about these families, they all know how to party,” O’Quinn said.

And who doesn’t enjoy a good party every now and then?
