Teams across all sports are beginning to unveil swanky new practice facilities with all sorts of cool amenities, and the Los Angeles Lakers are the next to do so. Today, they unveiled the UCLA Health Training Center in El Segundo, which is scheduled to open up this time next year, and it looks pretty cool.

The facility will come complete with all of the needs for a sports team in the 21st century, including top of the line training and recovery facilities, cryogenics chambers for enhanced recovery, and of course, a barber shop. The LA D-Fenders, the Lakers D-League affiliate, will be based out of the new facility and also play their home games there starting in the fall of 2017.

There is also plenty of new technology at the facility, including a “smart board” (kinda like the ones used in schools) for gameplanning on one of the many practice courts. The entire development of the area will total 120,000 square feet, which includes hotels, shops, and restaurants, as well as 122,836 square feet of dual court gyms.

“This facility will provide me and my staff with all the tools we need to maximize the development of our players and help them reach their full potential. From my perspective, having been both a player and now a coach in this league, training centers can create productive teaching and learning environments, while also offering the comforts players desire. I think the UCLA Health Training Center will achieve both. When finished, I expect our player and staff accommodations to be unparalleled in the NBA”, said Lakers head coach Luke Walton.

It’s going to cost a lot, but that’s the cost of doing business in modern sports. Besides, we’re talking about the Lakers – I think they can afford it.
