It has been a while since anyone had heard from former NBA star Lamar Odom, but he has broken his silence and come forward with his thoughts on his life and career in an interview with Us Weekly. In that interview, Odom took the blame for problems in his relationship with Khloe Kardashian, and also for how his NBA career came to an end due to his cocaine use.

“The sad thing about it is, I don’t know if I was disappointed because I was actually doing the drug or because she caught me,” Odom said after explaining he hid his cocaine use from Kardashian, now his ex-wife. “She knew I was doing cocaine the whole time after that. It was my drug of choice. I’m not going to say she accepted it because that would be the wrong word. Tolerated would be a better word.”

Khloe may have tolerated the cocaine use, but she did not tolerate Odom having multiple affairs. He admitted to regretting that the most.

“If there is one thing I regret when I was married, it was having multiple affairs with different women,” Odom said. “That wasn’t the stand-up thing to do.”

Odom also went into detail about the infamous sequence of events that led to him being hospitalized in October 2015 after a visit to a brothel.

I was home by myself. Bored. I wanted to get out and have a good time. Looking back, I might have had a drink to get the mood started, but was I drunk or on drugs? Not at all. I remember lying in bed. Two women were in bed and then I fell asleep. That’s all. When I woke up four days later, I was trying to pull the tubes out of my mouth.

Odom claims to be sober today, which is encouraging to hear. He said he completed a rehab stint in January, which is part of the reason nobody had heard from him in some time. Here’s hoping Odom stays clean and continues to put the pieces back together.
