For the first time since his October overdose and subsequent hospital stay, Lamar Odom made a public appearance Thursday evening in New York. The former NBA star was in attendance at Kanye West’s album debut concert at Madison Square Garden.
Odom and West are still legally brothers-in-law, and Odom was with his wife, Khoe Kardashian, who was also in attendance at the event. The two planned to divorce prior to Odom’s overdose, but Kardashian called it off in order to make medical decisions for her husband.

This a fantastic step in the right direction for Odom. The 35 year old was close to death back in October, and spent almost three days in a coma. It was considered a major victory when he was able to talk and feed himself after emerging from the coma.

Odom and Kardashian appear to be in the process of reconciliation. The couple sat together at the concert, and moved back in together when Odom was released from the hospital back in January.

There was some speculation that Odom’s involvement with the Kardashians sent him spiraling down that dark path in the first place. However, it appears their presence has helped the former NBA champion in his road to recovery, and last night’s appearance was a pleasant surprise for those of us rooting Odom on in his journey back.
