This is not a hot take: dogs are better than cats. This is also not a hot take: Meyers Leonard deserves an award from PETA.

While PETA may not condone the modern human practice of keeping dogs as pets, it should really consider giving the Portland Trail Blazers’ big man an award.

Leonard, 25, has a cute dog named Bella. Sadly, Bella isn’t doing so well. To honor and support his wonderful dog, Leonard had customized socks made with her face on them:

Oregon Live recently reported that Bella has stage 3 kidney failure and has spent a lot of time with veterinarians. The night before that story was written, fans supported Leonard and Bella at the Trail Blazers game against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Since that time, it appears Bella has slowly gotten better.

By quickly glancing at Leonard’s Twitter feed, it’s easy to see how much he loves Bella.

I think I speak for everyone here at The Comeback when I say we love Bella too, and hope she gets better soon!
