The Portland Trail Blazers are set to tip-off against the New Orleans Pelicans. And as they start their final game of the regular season, Maurice Harkless has about 500,000 reasons not to attempt a single three tonight.

Harkless, 23, is 68-for-194 from beyond the arc this season, which is good for a 35.1% three-point percentage going into the final game of the season Wednesday.

If Harkless shoots 35% or better from three-point range this season, Portland will write him an additional fat $500,000 check as a bonus. The forward has shot 31.5% percent from three over his career and has set a career high for threes made and attempted this season.

In short, it’ll be tough for him to not shoot it from downtown tonight. But, if he does and misses, well that could be an expensive miss.

So once again, don’t shoot from three Moe! If he does however limit himself to only two attempts from three and misses the first, well then he’s in a world of hurt.

If he attempts no threes: 35.1%

0-1: 34.8%

1-1: 35.3%

0-2: 34.7%

1-2: 35.2%

2-2: 35.7%

Say it with me! DON’T SHOOT THREES! DON’T SHOOT THREES! Harkless hasn’t attempted a three in his last two games, so he may know something…
