Anyone who has ever shot a basketball has had a perfectly good shot rim out for no reason other than the invisible whims of physics.

And yeah, we’ve all probably cursed at the rim, even knowing somewhere in our minds that the cylinder is inanimate and in fact has no preference on whether our shot falls or bounces out.

So in that sense, we can all relate to Thunder center Steven Adams.

After missing a key free throw later in the fourth quarter of the Thunder’s win over the Pelicans on Sunday night, Adams appeared to say “I fucking hate you so much” to the poor, innocent rim.

Adams, who shoots 65.9 percent from the line this season, wound up missing the second free throw as well, proving that you do not want to make an enemy of the rim.

Luckily for the Thunder, New Orleans failed to capitalize, and Adams’ teammate Russell Westbrook hit four straight free throws and a dunk to ice the game.

Given that Westbrook didn’t seem to struggle with the rim the way Adams did, we’ve got two possible explanations here: 1) The rim specifically hates Steven Adams. 2) The rim has no bias and is simply a man-made ring of metal, meaning the center’s misses were all his fault.

Adams should probably apologize, just in case.
