The NBA All-Star Game is this weekend and The Roots are going all-in when it comes to the musical entertainment prior to the event.

The Roots will be performing what is said to be an original NBA-themed musical, although what that entails is a bit of a mystery. There will be no shortage of star power though, as DJ Jazzy Jeff, Michael B. Jordan, Daveed Diggs (from Hamilton) will be among those contributing to the show, titled “The Evolution of Greatness.” The band teased their plans months ago when it was confirmed they would be performing as part of the all-star festivities.

OK, I’m interested. The Roots are entertaining enough by themselves, but adding a few guest stars to the mix opens the door for many possibilities. We also know John Legend will be in New Orleans to perform at the all-star game, but will he get a chance to share the spotlight with The Roots as well? One thing is for sure, this will be quite the show.
