It’s hard to get very far into a Thon Maker scouting report without hitting the word “raw.” The Milwaukee Bucks rookie is seven feet tall with super long arms and endless athleticism, and by all accounts he’s a hard-worker and a good kid. He’s just a little rough around the edges.
Ok, maybe a lot rough around the edges.
On Monday, Maker accomplished a rare feat: He fouled out of a Summer League game, despite the league’s rules allowing a player 10 personal fouls.
Thon Maker had a double-double of sorts tonight:

He did it, Thon Maker got to 10 fouls in a Summer League game. Add that to the list of things to work on with him.

Now, we shouldn’t be too hard on Maker, who put up 15 points and 13 rebounds in his first Summer League game and 17 and 17 in his second but man, 10 fouls is a lot of fouls to commit in 31 minutes of play.
Maker, the 10th overall pick in last month’s draft, is a promising prospect but clearly has a lot of room to grow. It helps that he’s only 19… well, probably.
Regardless of what happens in Maker’s career going forward, at least he’ll always be remembered for pioneering a new kind of double-double.
