Tom Thibodeau picked up a technical foul in his old stomping grounds when the Timberwolves played the Bulls on Friday night at the United Center.

And the technical foul was simply a misunderstanding.

Thibs was yelling at his own player, Karl-Anthony Towns, after the Bulls got an easy bucket. But there was a referee standing by Towns, and the ref thought Thibs was yelling at him, not Towns.

That’s very unfortunate for the Timberwolves, and it ended up being a pretty important moment in the game. The Bulls would hit the free throw and ended up winning the game by one point, 114-113.
