The San Antonio Spurs beat the Houston Rockets in extremely impressive fashion on Thursday night (114-75) to advance to the Western Conference Finals. What made the blowout victory especially impressive is that they got it done without their best player, in superstar two-way forward Kawhi Leonard.

This came after the Spurs had an outstanding 61-21 regular-season record, good for the second-best mark in the NBA. Along with having one of the game’s best players in Leonard (he should be fine for the next series), they also have the game’s best coach in Gregg Popovich. They are loaded with playoff experience. And they have a 5-5 record in the regular season vs the Warriors over the last three years:

And Vegas doesn’t appear to care about any of that. Or at least not enough to make them believe the Spurs have much of a chance vs the Warriors.

The Westgate Sportsbook in Las Vegas has the Spurs at +900 to win the series (and the Warriors are -1600), as Scott Van Pelt talked about on SportsCenter:

“If you’re telling me I can get +900 on San Antonio, well then I need to get to the window on that.”

According to a point spread vs moneyline conversion chart I found from The Wizard of Odds (great name), these odds are like an NFL team being 17-point underdogs (so, say the Browns playing the Patriots in New England).

5Dimes has it as a tad less nuts, with the Spurs being +650:

The Warriors should absolutely be big favorites, but these odds are still pretty incredible.

Whatever the case, the Spurs are certainly used to being taken lightly. Heck, they were 8.5-point underdogs on Thursday night, and all they did was win by 39 points.
