Krystal Thomas hits a seated shot.

Basketball often sees some unconventional shots pay off, but the one Washington Mystics’ center Krystal Thomas hit against the Dallas Wings Sunday stood out. After teammate Elena Delle Donne missed a shot, Thomas grabbed a rebound in traffic against two Wings’ players. She fell to the ground in the fight to secure the ball, but managed to get a shot up from a prone position, and it went in. Here’s the clip, from ESPN’s SportsCenter Top 10 Sunday night:

What a shot, and one we’re unlikely to see repeated any time soon. Often when players go to the floor, they’re either locked up with opponents or have someone right above them, so getting off a shot is pretty difficult (and that’s saying nothing of it taking plenty of power to get the ball that high from a prone position in the first place, or of the accuracy challenges involved there). But it certainly worked out for Thomas Sunday. The Mystics eventually lost 87-83, but Thomas provided them with at least one incredible highlight.
