Florida stadium sign loses 'O' and 'D'

University of Florida’s football stadium was very fortunate to sustain minimal damage during Hurricane Irma. But the minor damage Ben Hill Griffin Stadium did suffer has college football fans cracking up.

The stadium’s signage, which reads “Steve Spurrier-Florida Field” lost its “O” and “D,” just like the Gators offense and defense went missing in a Week 1 loss to Michigan.

That’s quite a little on the nose for Mother Nature, but hey.

Florida lost that game 33-17 with the offense mustering only a field goal. Although their defense showed up in first half with a pair of interceptions returned for touchdowns, the wheels fell off in the second half as the Gators blew a 17-13 lead. They finished with 192 yards of total offense and while giving up 433 yards on D.

Thankfully, the stadium suffered no significant damage, to this week’s SEC opener against Tennessee will be played as scheduled. We’ll see if the Gators can find their “O” and “D” in time, in every sense.
