Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh will generally tell you whatever he thinks, whether you want to hear it or not. He has particularly strong opinions on the SEC and “Pete” Finebaum.

Now, Harbaugh’s takes are venturing into politics. After news came that Donald Trump’s proposed budget would cut or reduce funding for the Legal Services Corporation, which provides legal aid to the poor, Harbaugh tweeted that the President should reconsider.

This is a good take that really should have bipartisan approval. If the poor can’t have access to good legal help, then they are likely to be punished more by the justice system. Without the Legal Services Corporation, the government cannot have a justice system that is fair to the poor.

It’s unclear why this issue is particularly close to Harbaugh’s heart, but it’s a good opinion nonetheless.

This is Harbaugh’s first overtly political tweet. He did attend a Hillary Clinton campaign rally to see Barack Obama.

Harbaugh’s tweets have inadvertently gotten himself into a political mess before. He tweeted criticism of people who were offended by the movie American Sniper, which was criticized for glorifying the role of snipers in Iraq, and for profiling Chris Kyle, who called Iraqis “savages,” among other things.

Harbaugh eventually met with students who were offended by the film to learn about their criticism.
