On December 30th, the University of Michigan will travel to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida to face Florida State University in the 2016 Orange Bowl and Michigan’s head coach wants the bowl game to basically be a Seminoles’ home game.

Hard Rock Stadium sits about 470 miles southeast of FSU’s Doak Campbell Stadium, compared to 1,400 miles southeast of Michigan Stadium. In short, the Orange Bowl will probably already be a sort of home game for FSU.

Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh is happy about that in a weird way.

“I’ve never been to a game at Florida State,” Harbaugh said.

“I’ve always wanted to go there and see what that atmosphere was like in person. This will be as close as I’ve ever been to that. I’m excited for that. I know I’m going to get some chills when that Appaloosa comes riding out there.”

The thing is there is no guarantee the Appaloosa will come out since it’s a bowl game. However, Harbaugh is practically pleading for it, and more, to happen.

The coach wants to see Chief Osceola and Renegade storm onto the field with a flaming spear and spike it in the middle of the field.

“Well, you have our permission,” Harbaugh said. “I want to see that. That’s one of the cool things… We have cool things and other teams have cool things, but that is right up there as one of the coolest things.”

He’s not wrong either. Most TV broadcasts will show the act because of how FSU’s home crowd reacts every single time.

It’s pretty badass.

Since FSU has Michigan’s permission to perform the pregame act on December 30th, it wouldn’t be surprising to see it happen.
