Sad news to report from Baton Rouge, as LSU’s live tiger mascot, Mike VI, has passed away after a cancer diagnosis. He was euthanized earlier today. He was diagnosed with spindle cell sarcoma in May of this year and began to undergo treatment in June, and went into hospice care yesterday.

Mike VI was 11 years old when he passed away, and was adopted by the school in 2007 at the age of two. LSU has begun the search for Mike VII, who will be another young, male tiger donated from a rescue facility.

LSU will honor Mike VI during their game on Saturday night against Southern Miss, which will be the first game at Tiger Stadium since his passing. Below you can find a video LSU put together to honor him.
