With LSU deciding that its team wasn’t “sexy” enough or productive enough to keep the hounds (a.k.a boosters) off the scent of Les Miles, there’s a new hunt on for a head coach – one that apparently will bring “sexy” football to Baton Rouge.

So, it should be no surprise that the man who tops the Bovada odds to be the next permanent head coach for the Bayou Bengals is none other than Houston Cougars head coach Tom Herman, listed at just +125.

His team and himself are the personification of sexy football, putting up crazy points and playing some killer defense as well. It’s a recipe for success at Houston and one that should be able to be duplicated just about anywhere.

After al, it took Herman less than a season to make Houston back in to a national contender after the program feel off in the post-Kevin Sumlin era.

For his part, Herman has stated no one has contacted him from LSU and that he is focused on the season ahead at Houston.

“I can say unequivocally nobody has contacted me,”  Herman said after practice at TDECU Stadium.

“You know my stance. I’m never going to comment about another job during the season. It’s not fair to our players, it’s not fair to whatever university these reports are about. It’s not fair to anybody.”

If Herman isn’t talking to LSU then they have to be at least looking to line up other names.

To that end, Vegas oddsmakers also have a few interesting names amongst the early betting favorites. Those names include the second choice, Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher. Other names on the list are UNC’s Larry Fedora, USF’s Willie Taggart, and current interim head coach Ed Orgeron.

LSU has to at least take a run at Herman, especially given the reasoning behind letting Miles go.

With former players even calling the program “boring” and noting that not changing things up on offense amongst the reasons for Miles’ firing, a sexy hire has to be made…whatever that is in the minds of the LSU athletic department brass.
