lamelo ball

LaMelo Ball is a high school sophomore in Chino Hills, California who has already committed to play point guard for UCLA, where his older brother Lonzo is currently a star.

LaMelo gained viral attention last month when he pulled up at mid-court during a game and drained an obnoxiously deep 3-pointer, then nonchalantly turned around down the court.

Well he recently tried the stunt again, and this time it didn’t go quite so smoothly.

Apparently when you take shots from gratuitously deep distances, the defense learns to guard you as soon as you reach half-court.

The kid who blocked Ball, Miles Oliver, is no slouch himself. He’s a nationally ranked senior point guard who will likely be playing Division I next year. And he must have known the scouting report on Ball.

Ball’s half-court pull-up schtick is fun and certainly exciting when it goes in, but it might not be the worst thing for him to get a little dose of humility. He probably won’t be shooting from back there again soon.
