Two Syracuse football players were reportedly stabbed “out of nowhere” by a former player at a cookout on campus, according to Syracuse.com.

Syracuse.com obtained a police report, which alleges former Orange defensive back Naesean Howard stabbed fellow defensive backs Corey Winfield and Chauncey Scissum, multiple times at the campus event.

“According to a criminal complaint obtained Monday, Howard stabbed Winfield on his lower right back, upper right chest, and left abdomen and left wrist.

Howard then stabbed Scissum on the right side of his neck, right upper chest, left shoulder and bottom lip, according to police.”

Witnesses said Howard “was under rage” when the alleged crime took place. They said the stabbing happened “out of nowhere,” as they were chilling.

“Everybody was out there chilling,” the friend said. “No one was drunk.

“It literally just happened out of nowhere,” the friend said. “It came out of nowhere. There was no argument before. It just happened.”

Witnesses said Winfield put his life on the line to save Scissum, who was unable to defend himself as he was recovering from surgery.

“At the end of the day, if there is a big savior in this whole situation, it’s Corey Winfield. He put his life on the line for his best friend.”

Both were quickly rushed to the hospital. According to the report, Winfield’s and Scissum’s Syracuse teammates visited to check in on them. Scissum tweeted that he and Winfield “are good.”

Howard was arraigned in court on Monday and is currently being held on $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond.
