Late in the first half, with Clemson trailing Syracuse 17-14 at the Carrier Dome, Clemson quarterback Kelly Bryant was awkwardly slammed into the turf, resulting in a lengthy delay while the Tiger training staff attended to a motionless Bryant.

Bryant was eventually able to walk to the locker room, but that’s never the kind of play you want to see happen.

With Bryant unlikely to return, Syracuse might have a real shot at pulling off the upset. The Carrier Dome is one of those Bermuda Triangle-type college football venues where just about anything weird can happen and it would seem within the realm of possibility. When you toss in a Friday night game against the nation’s #2 ranked team, craziness was bound to ensue.

As an example: Syracuse was up 14-7 and driving on Clemson, when they threw what was originally ruled a touchdown:

But that was called back for offensive pass interference:

And then on the next play, this happened:

It’s been a really weird game so far, as you’d expect it to be.

But more importantly than anything, let’s hope Kelly Bryant is okay.
