The Texas-USC game didn’t feature much action in the first half on Saturday night, until the half’s final 30 seconds.

USC had a 7-0 lead and the ball at their own 23-yard line with 30 seconds left, when star quarterback Sam Darnold’s throw was dropped by wide receiver Jalen Greene. The ball fell right into the hands of the Longhorns’ DeShon Elliott, who took it to the house for a pick-six.

So, Texas figured they were going into halftime tied, on the road against the No. 4 team in the country and with all of the momentum.

That quickly changed. On the final play of the half from USC’s own 44-yard line, Darnold scrambled to avoid pressure, and threw a pass about 25 yards downfield to running back Ronald Jones. The Texas defense was giving USC that play; they were just looking to protect the end zone with no time left.

Well, Jones incredibly outran the Longhorns’ defenders — thanks in part to some great blocking — to score a 55-yard touchdown to end the half and give USC the lead back. And nobody calls a bonkers play quite like Gus:
