There are an absurd amount of bowl games in college football these days. At this rate, there will probably be a “We Don’t Even Know What We Are Called Anymore” bowl by 2020. But despite the crazy high amount of bowls, one bowl can still make fun of itself.

The Belk Bowl isn’t a bad bowl at all. On December 29th at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina a member of the ACC will face off against a school from the SEC. Mississippi State won the 2015 Belk Bowl by a score of 51-28 over North Carolina State.

Going into the 2015 Belk Bowl, Mississippi St. was 8-4 and NC State was 7-5. So, the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide will most certainly not be going to the Belk Bowl as the SEC rep this year, and the social media team for the Belk Bowl knows it.

They even make fun of themselves for it!

And they’ve been keeping this joke running for a whole day now!

The Belk Bowl started in 2002 and during its 14 year run the Tide have never made the trip to Charlotte to take part. The University of North Carolina, meanwhile, has been to the Belk Bowl more than anybody else with four appearances, but is a measly 1-3 at the bowl.

While probably 95% of the country is more than okay with Alabama missing the Belk Bowl, it’s a little unfortunate the people running the bowl’s Twitter account won’t get the exposure of having the #1 team in the country take part in the 2016 edition.
