Things didn’t go well for the VMI in their college football season opener on Saturday. The Keydets were blown out 66-3 by the Toledo Rockets, and one play in the first quarter really summarized the game.

With VMI in a punt formation back at their own goal line, Toledo special teamer Cody Thompson blasted through the line and blocked the punt. Well, Thompson didn’t even really *block* the punt from VMI’s Reed King- he basically just took the ball right off King’s foot and was in the end zone for a touchdown before King’s punting leg even finished the follow-through.

This is an incredible — yet in the end, easy — special teams touchdown:

A remarkable effort from Thompson, and a pretty rough effort from the VMI punt protection unit.
