You’re going to see the Villanova buzzer-beater that lifted them over the North Carolina Tar Heels to win the 2016 national title a lot this season. Monday, Purdue decided it wanted to provide a rebuttal.

The No. 4 Wildcats traveled to West Lafayette, Indiana on Monday to take on the No. 15 Boilermakers in a big, early-season showdown between two of the sport’s best squads. It’s the second game of the season for both teams but one of them will come away with their first loss.

The Wildcats clung to a 39-36 lead with seconds expiring in the first half when they turned the ball over and Purdue did some quick thinking to get the ball in transition to  P.J. Thompson. Just before time expired on the half, Thompson launched the ball from the far side of the mid-court line, just above the Big P. Then, magic happened.

The Boilermakers tied the game up and took a huge piece of momentum with them into the locker room.
