It’s NFL preseason week 1 (I refuse to capitalize that, because it’s such empty entertainment that it doesn’t deserve proper noun status, similar to two and a half men), but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy cool moments that happen during the games.

For example, there’s this play, from the Dolphins/Falcons tilt on Thursday night. Jay Cutler (sadly) wasn’t playing for Miami yet, but another former Bears QB (backup David Fales) lined up under center on his own 1.

The broadcast even notes how poor the field position is. And then, this happened:

That’s Fales hooking up with Damore’ea Stringfellow, an undrafted rookie out of Ole Miss, and a contender for best name in the NFL for as long as he remains in the NFL. (Breakaway speed like Stringfellow demonstrates on that catch and run can only help his case.)

While this play, in the end, doesn’t count for much, it’s a reminder that sometimes the NFL can just be fun, and in early August, the entertainment options are slim. And 99 yards is 99 yards. Plus it ended up being the winning score for the Dolphins.

(Apropos of nothing, the Dolphins uniforms look fantastic.)
